In a final step the cutting edges of these nippers are finally adjusted by hand so that they close precisely and cut the nails cleanly. In the case of nippers, "closing precisely" means that the two cutting edges initially only meet at their very tips, while a column of light is still visible through the rest of the cutting edge. The cutting edges close completely from top to bottom, when slight pressure is being applied on the handles. So the nail is cut cleanly and not squeezed off! The double spring, which pushes the nippers open again after cutting, can of course be easily replaced, if broken or tired after a long period of use.
